Well, I had another enjoyable and fruitful day on Saturday, 4th May 2013 at the Made In Thornbury mother's day market. Things sold, and orders taken. As usual people were fascinated by the handspinning process and I was happy sharing the spinning and knitting love. Here are a couple of photos of the stall.
Since many people were keen on the mittens I thought I'd better stir my stumps and post photographs of the different mittens I've made over the last 2 years. I'm a very lackadaisical blogger, I think because I spend so much of my working life in front of a computer. Anyway ....
The mittens I make are rarely repeated. It's one of the joys of craft (and not depending on it for a living) that whenever I'm bored by a design I can stop making it. The handspun merino wool is very light and warm, and I knit the fingerless mittens in the round using four needles. This means that there isn't an uncomfortable seam and the mittens can be easily shaped to fit snugly around the wrist and hand.
